Talent Q Aspects Ability test: verbal, numerical and checking explained
Talent Q Aspects Ability is a set of three short, adaptive tests from Korn Ferry: verbal reasoning (about 8 minutes), numerical reasoning (about 10 minutes) and checking (about 6 minutes). It is designed for entry-level, operational, customer service and administrative roles; graduate and professional roles more often get the longer Talent Q Elements tests. Because the tests adapt to your answers, early accuracy matters more than racing.
- Three adaptive tests: verbal (~8 min), numerical (~10 min), checking (~6 min).
- About a third of the time of equivalent traditional tests (Korn Ferry).
- Adaptive: question difficulty follows your performance.
- Aspects targets entry-level and operational roles; Elements targets graduate and professional roles.
- forge has Aspects-style practice for all three tests.
Quick summary
- Aspects Ability has verbal, numerical and checking tests.
- They take about 8, 10 and 6 minutes respectively.
- All three are adaptive, so everyone sees different questions.
- Aspects is for entry-level and operational roles; Elements for graduates and professionals.
- Prepare for reading passages, simple data and fast code-checking.

How the adaptive format works
Each Aspects test draws from a large question bank. Answer correctly and the next question is harder; answer wrongly and it gets easier. Korn Ferry says this makes the tests shorter and more secure, because candidates see different questions. For you, it means early mistakes pull the difficulty down, so the first few questions are worth extra care.

Aspects versus Elements
Korn Ferry offers both. Elements (verbal, numerical, logical) is used for graduate, professional and managerial roles, with harder content. Aspects (verbal, numerical, checking) is shorter and aimed at entry-level, frontline and operational roles. Your invitation will name the test. See our guides to Talent Q numerical, verbal and logical for Elements.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Talent Q Aspects test?
Aspects Ability is a set of three short adaptive ability tests from Korn Ferry (which acquired Talent Q): verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning and checking. It is aimed mainly at entry-level, operational, customer service and administrative roles.
How long are the Aspects Ability tests?
Korn Ferry gives average completion times of about 8 minutes for verbal, 10 minutes for numerical and 6 minutes for checking. That's roughly a third of the time of equivalent traditional tests, because they are adaptive.
What's the difference between Talent Q Aspects and Elements?
Elements is Korn Ferry's adaptive ability range for graduate, professional and managerial roles (verbal, numerical and logical). Aspects is the shorter range for entry-level and operational roles (verbal, numerical and checking).
Are the Aspects tests adaptive?
Yes. Korn Ferry says all three Aspects Ability tests are adaptive: questions get harder or easier based on your answers, drawn from a large bank, so each candidate sees a different set.
How do I prepare for Aspects Ability?
Practise reading short passages for meaning, working with simple graphs and tables, and comparing codes quickly and accurately. Because the tests are adaptive, accuracy on early questions matters, so don't rush.
