Pulsifi work culture assessment: how culture fit is measured
The Pulsifi work culture assessment asks what matters to you at work (autonomy, teamwork, stability, growth and so on) and compares your priorities with the employer's culture. The result feeds the culture-fit score that employers see alongside your role fit. There are no right answers. The useful preparation is understanding the company's culture and knowing your own priorities, then answering honestly. It is one of the six tests in the Pulsifi assessment.
- Measures your work values: what you need from a workplace to do your best work.
- Produces a culture-fit score, one of the two fit scores employers see (Pulsifi).
- No right answers; takes about 5–15 minutes.
- Pulsifi links value alignment to engagement and retention.
- forge's practice covers 10 work values in 50 statements.

What the culture questionnaire measures
You rate how important different features of a workplace are to you. forge's Pulsifi-style practice uses ten common work values:
- Autonomy: Freedom to decide how you do your work.
- Pace and agility: Fast decisions and quick change.
- Teamwork: Shared goals and close collaboration.
- Recognition and merit: Reward tied clearly to performance.
- Structure and stability: Clear processes, predictable roles.
- Purpose and impact: Work that benefits society or customers.
- Inclusion and belonging: Feeling accepted and heard.
- Growth and learning: Training, stretch work and fast development.
- Innovation and risk: Trying new things, tolerating failure.
- Work-life balance: Sustainable hours and flexibility.
Several of these pull against each other. Structure and stability sits uneasily with pace and innovation; autonomy with close teamwork. Your profile is about which way you lean, and no culture rewards rating everything as essential.
How the culture-fit score works
Pulsifi gives employers two fit scores: one for the role and one for the culture. The employer defines its culture, and your values are compared with it. Pulsifi's view is that aligned values improve engagement and retention, so a strong match tells the employer you're more likely to stay and do well.
How to prepare
- Research the culture. Read the company values, graduate programme pages and how current employees describe the job. Note the words they repeat.
- Know your priorities. Rank the ten values above for yourself before the test, so you answer quickly and consistently.
- Answer for your first job, not for an ideal job in ten years.
- Don't game it. A forced match can put you in a culture you dislike, and interviewers often ask questions like "tell me about a time you worked with little supervision" to test the same values.
A poor culture match isn't a verdict on you. It's useful information about whether that employer is right for you. For the other questionnaires, see the personality test and work interest test.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Pulsifi work culture assessment?
It is one of Pulsifi's three psychometric questionnaires. It asks what you value in a workplace, such as autonomy, teamwork, stability or growth, and compares your priorities with the employer's culture to produce a culture-fit score.
Is there a right answer in the Pulsifi culture test?
No. Different companies have different cultures. A strong match helps your culture-fit score, but faking values is risky: you may end up in a culture that doesn't suit you, and interviewers often probe the same values.
How do I find out a company's culture before the assessment?
Read the careers site, graduate programme pages and values statement, look at how current graduates describe the job, and note the words the company repeats. Use this to understand the employer, then answer honestly.
Why do employers measure culture fit?
Pulsifi says work values affect cultural alignment and retention: people whose values match their workplace tend to stay longer and be more engaged. Employers use culture fit as one input, alongside skills and reasoning.
How long is the Pulsifi work culture assessment?
Pulsifi says each assessment takes about 5 to 15 minutes. The culture questionnaire is usually one of the quicker ones.
