Unilever digital interview 2026: the UFLP video questions and business case

By Pratham Ranjan·8 min read·

The Unilever digital interview is step 3 of the Unilever Future Leaders Programme (UFLP) application. Unilever says it has 3 short questions followed by a business case built on real Unilever scenarios. For the 2026 UK and Ireland programme, it's reviewed by a real person, not AI. You record your answers alone, with no live interviewer. Below: how the whole process fits together, the questions in forge's Unilever bank, how to approach the business case, and a free drill. For general HireVue format and setup, see the HireVue interview guide.

TL;DRthe 30-second version
  • Digital interview: 3 short questions + a business case (Unilever's own description).
  • Reviewed by a real person: Unilever says it doesn't use AI to screen.
  • Comes after a personality test and online assessment, before the Discovery Centre.
  • You can apply to one function; recruitment is rolling, so apply early.
  • The business case rewards structure: problem, options, recommendation, measure.
Definition
The Unilever digital interview is a recorded interview in the Unilever Future Leaders Programme application, made up of three short questions and a business case in which candidates solve a problem set in a real Unilever scenario.
  • Four stages: application, profile assessment, digital interview, Discovery Centre.
  • The short questions cover you, your motivation and competencies.
  • The business case is where most marks are won or lost: structure beats flair.
  • A person watches it, so delivery and clarity matter alongside content.

The Unilever Future Leaders Programme application, step by step

  1. Online application. You can fill it in from your LinkedIn profile, and you can apply to one function.
  2. Profile assessment. A portrait personality test and an online assessment. Unilever says these look at cognitive, emotional and social traits. It doesn't name the provider; check your invite.
  3. Digital interview. 3 short questions, then a business case using Unilever scenarios.
  4. Discovery Centre. Unilever describes it as a "day in the life" of a Future Leader, with project meetings, business challenges, team meetings and interviews.
A person reviews your interview
Unilever's UK and Ireland UFLP page says it does not use AI as a screening tool, so your digital interview is reviewed by a real person. That makes clear delivery, eye contact and a tidy setup matter more than they would for a transcript-only score. See how HireVue scoring works for employers that do use AI.

The short questions

forge's HireVue bank holds 16 Unilever questions. The recurring themes:

  • Tell me about yourself, and why this job at Unilever.
  • Leading without formal authority: how you influenced others.
  • Delivering disappointing news.
  • Critical feedback you received and how you responded.
  • Improving a process, and how you measured success.
  • Prioritising under pressure, handling unclear goals, and a decision you made with data.
  • Explain a complex topic simply, and something not on your CV.

Several of these ask how you measured something or what you learned. Unilever's versions often add that second half, so end every story with a number and a lesson.

How to handle the business case

Unilever says the business case asks you to "solve real-world problems using Unilever scenarios". You won't know the scenario in advance, but you can practise the shape of a good answer:

  1. Restate the problem in one sentence, so the reviewer knows you understood it.
  2. Break it down into two to four possible causes or options. For a sales problem: price, distribution, competition, consumer habits.
  3. Say what you'd check for each, briefly.
  4. Recommend one thing and say why, including a risk.
  5. Say how you'd measure success. A metric and a time frame.
Know the brands
Unilever scenarios use its own products and markets. Spend 20 minutes on Unilever's business groups and a few major brands in your function's area before you record. A case answer that mentions how a real Unilever brand is sold reads very differently from a generic one.

A 5-day plan

  1. Day 1: research your function and three Unilever brands relevant to it. Write "why Unilever, why this function".
  2. Day 2: write stories for influence without authority, disappointing news, feedback and process improvement, each ending with a number and a lesson.
  3. Day 3: practise two business cases out loud using the five-step structure above.
  4. Day 4: record every drill question. Watch back for clarity: a person will review this.
  5. Day 5: check your setup and record when you're sharp, well before the deadline.
