Software engineering interns reach JP Morgan two ways: the standard Software Engineer Program, or the Code for Good hackathon. Both start with the same coding test and HireVue interview.

    Online application

    • You can apply to both the Software Engineer Program and the Code for Good hackathon.
    • Code for Good is mostly for penultimate-year students, and the form rejected later graduation dates.
    • After the coding test, some Software Engineer Program applicants are invited to apply for Code for Good instead.

    • Two questions, rated easy to medium, in every intake from 2024 to 2026.
    • Some test cases are hidden, so passing the visible ones does not guarantee full marks.
    • Do not switch tabs inside the test window.
    • The link may carry no stated deadline. Candidates advise finishing within about five days.

    One-way video interview

    HireVue
    • Sent a few days after the coding test. The email may call it the final assessment.
    • Two behavioural questions in recent intakes.
    • About 30 seconds to think and two minutes to answer each question.
    • One HireVue counts for both Code for Good and the Software Engineer Program.

    • Invitations follow the coding test and HireVue. There is a waitlist for declined places.
    • Strong performers can skip most interviews, and internship offers go to some participants.
    • Winning the hackathon is not needed for an offer.
